Looking at the definitions of %l and %hh, I don't see that they are the
same, although perhaps they give the same result.

Dear all,

I currently have a problem when running dvipdfmx from texlive-2009 on a
solaris 9 machine. I tracked it down to
the call of fscanf(file, "%%PDF-1.%hhu", &minor) in the function
check_for_pdf_version. Though this works on solaris10, it does not work
on solaris9 since the "%hhu" format specifier is not defined there. May
I suggest changing the format specifier to "%c"?
