[DVIPDFMx] Fwd: file size

Hello,



 I have a big concern. I am making a document that has some pictures. with
dvipdfm it is about 2MB but with dvipdfmx it is about 20 MB!

 Now this document is only in English or latin languages, so I cam make the
pdf with dvipdfm,  but later I plan to make a Japanese version, so I will
not be able to used dvipdfm anymore.

 Where should I seek for the possible glitches ? I have tried to change the
-z option but it does not change indeed, or very little.

(I am working with plamo linux and the "out-of-the-box" pteTeX system.)
